My Trip to Capalonga: A Journey of Faith and Food

We left home at around 5:30 before the sun rise last weekend. Every time my father had a chance to visit us in Quezon, we always made a chanceI to see the beauty of Capalonga, Camarines Norte, a place known for its religious significance and beautiful coastal views. Our journey was not just a trip but a spiritual experience as well.

The main reason for our visit was to attend Mass at the famous Shrine of the Black Nazarene in Capalonga. This church is a famous pilgrimage site for devotees from different parts of the country. As we entered, I felt the solemnity and devotion of the people. The image of the Black Nazarene, which is miraculous, stood there as a symbol of faith and hope.

The Mass was sincere, and I took the time to reflect, pray, and be thankful for the blessings of my life. Witnessing the faith of the people around me made the experience even more meaningful.

After the spiritual journey, we headed towards Calauag, Quezon for lunch in Lolo Ompo. It is the favorite eatery of locals; the food never failed to bring home. This restaurant is as cozy as being at home with the taste, and we truly enjoyed classic Filipino dishes. I tried Bulalo, the best seller, pako salad and sisig served in well-cooked and flavorfully grilled.

The meal wasn't just the food; it was the experience—telling stories, making people laugh, and enjoying being with family and friends.

We did not just visit Capalonga; it was a faith-filled trip with reflections and great food. Being inside the Black Nazarene Shrine to hear the Mass made me feel peaceful, while our stop at Lolo Ompo reminded me how people would come to eat to be together.

I look forward to visiting again and, if given the chance, traveling to Capalonga would be a nice visit, having some great food in Calauag. Hasta luego, Capalonga!
